ARGUMENT

THE OTHER STREAK OF TIGRE us back to when America was the continent that hosted the revolutionary thinking of a Europe struggling to emerge from feudalism. America not only opened its doors but received the likes of Humboldt, Garibaldi and Codazzi, who came here looking for what the old continent is not allowed freedom, democracy and a new concept of republic. The adventure of this new world were attracted and the Other Tiger Stripe is the story of the life of one of these so called "adventurers", Geo Von lenguerke, a high-born German who sought exile, pursued by the Kaiser, wanting establish the unity of their homeland. His life became a legend in the region of Santander lived for perhaps one of the most convulsive moment in national history, the eternal struggle between centralism and federalism. With the ideas of free trade, created a commercial interaction lenguerke exporting and importing, fact that aroused the enmity of our artisans, who violently opposed the bringing of products in Europe: exotic liquors, china, fine fabrics and many other flavors came to be part of Santander households. Hence many admired him while others hated it. Gradually the European revolutionary was becoming a feudal lord who established his kingdom in luxury, women and parties that shocked the society. Memorably recalled his vision for bringing a grand piano had to cross the ocean, climb the Magdalena and the tortuously steep mountains go to reach the living room of his European castle in the middle of the tropics. Finally your back tired of the futility of his good works alone and the roads were built on the trails of the Indians, in addition to the struggle and adventure which he lived until America began to devour him in the tangle of their exuberance. RCN TV wanted to capture in this series, with the best professionals Colombians, Russians, Poles, Germans and Americans, the cosmopolitan spirit of the novel is that great migration of intelligence. The war, the passion of love and our landscape revive the adventures of this hero who we rescued from the century XIX.

SYNOPSIS

topic that the writer worked on the novel (no synopsis, cast, etc ... I do not know much about this novel)

Tiger Stripe The other is a novel that is confused and Policy History. Some emphasis on a political reading comes from the nature and intent of the text. Ernesto Volkening, one of the first assessments of the novel, said: "... it is inter alia a political novel, perhaps the most successful of a literary genre barely grown in Colombia. So it seems that in the other tiger stripe will tip the scales toward the res publica to the detriment of the inner life of a man who, as it comes in story, has more than extroverted that person accustomed to hearing the voices of the soul discrete "(15). Geo von Lengerke comes to America, settling in the sovereign state of Santander, where he held a very sui generis the liberal project in the midst of tough conflict with the old feudal stamp Iberian heritage. Upstream, on the Rio Grande de la Magdalena, witnessed all the vicissitudes of this Faust in the Tropics. For their ventures in the construction and maintenance of roads and commercial activities connected to Santander and the country with the international centers Lengerke stands as a mythical aliens, "holy religion of progress candid, Santander the order of the first constitution of the Sovereign State of Santander (16). On the adverse conditions and the countless civil wars that bled the country, the liberal creed of progress was not always successful. In the novel, as noted by Serafin Martinez Gonzalez , "the narrator makes room for that in its discursive framework are recorded voices from the past and talk to fragment its history: the modernization effort and cosmopolitan liberals, the lethargy of the pre-modern sectors, in interplay of agreements and disagreements of cultures that clash with diffusionism of bourgeois culture, in short, the voices that replicated in the distress of its contradictions "(17). The novel builds on the historical character Georg Heinrich von Lengerke, but will take all the freedoms that allows fictional treatment (1. The narrator tells himself that this is a project cherished for generations: "I have said my father, who write that novel, is a gather novel where what was Santander, which was my father, everything that I heard him say Lengerke. The father could not write it, life would not let him, death was in charge to stop them forever. I have begun to write the novel inherited, I fought to bring it to term (ORT, 285) (19). The timing of fiction moves between the limits of historical chronology, from the arrival of Lengerke in 1852 until his death in 1882.'s projection to 86, at the end of the story, serves to mark the end of the experience of radical liberalism symbolized Lengerke history, "but Geo was right. Times are bad, they foreshadow destruction and death. pity not to have to make the railway "(ORT, 280). The memory of some families of Santander connects with the German migration is the historical source that allows Gómez Valderrama Geo von Lengerke recreate the founding myth around the state of Santander. "Of course, I thought the grandfather leaning on a rock looking into the distance, to Lengerke liberal paradise, freedom of commerce, the luxury of private life, renewed a dream interrupted in Germany, recreated, and transformed in Santander, in the United States of Colombia. Suddenly, in these years came the revolt, but it worked. It seemed at times that the path of war and progress would not have to do with each other "(ORT, 186). This horizon of their grandfather who brings us the story as indirect discourse, the liberal ideological background, echoed in the another tiger stripe. The "liberal paradise" of Lengerke refers both to human happiness pursued by the liberal credo, as a utopian dimension to the myth of origin which seeks to legitimate a national project. The novel draws on the utopia of the first European modernity, indeed, it can be interpreted as a rewrite of the project of radical liberalism. The literary application of this imaginary liberal means reviewing historical distance from the foundational values \u200b\u200bthat in the midst of the vicissitudes, the contradictions and failures are still valid. That is the conviction that Gómez Valderrama and his effort to romanticize the myths and symbols of the liberal utopia. The mythic journey of Geo von Lengerke overcomes the historical frustrations of a country where everything has always been on the brink of failure. PHOTOS
